Athena-syntax is a project that makes difficult and relevant contemporary themes discussable within the space provided by art. In an open-minded way, starting from similarities and in a positive manner, in reciprocity, we try to promote a positive self-image in pupils as well as the knowledge of their talents and the strengthening of their identity. The ultimate goal is always ‘Learning to live together’ as active, critical citizens of the world. The pedestal of basic values forms the basis.
The theme of ‘conflict’ can be broadly interpreted and filled in by the workshop leaders. The pupils were prepared for the theme during the lessons and in this context visited exhibitions on the theme such as
They also participated in the video project ‘My Great Eye’.
On a project day, they met the pupils of the Melanchthon school (Kralingen) and went into dialogue about the more specific theme of radicalisation and saw the film Layla M. by Mijke de Jong.
