Karin Heremans
Karin Heremans’ working life is wholly oriented towards education and culture. She started out as a teacher of Italian and French at the Secondary School for the Arts in Antwerp, where she specialised in creative language and literature, and developed various trans-disciplinary artistic projects. In 2001, she became Principal of GO! Royal Athenaeum of Antwerp. She leads the school in both policy and pedagogical matters, and is committed to helping all young people, whatever their backgrounds, to build a vision for their future. Since November 2015, Karin has also been working for the European Commission as Workgroup Leader in the prevention of radicalisation programme at the RAN, the Radicalisation Awareness Network. She is also co-ordinates the prevention of radicalisation and polarisation programme for the policy and strategy service of GO! EDUCATION, the public education system of the Flemish Community. She continues to pursue her mission of positive educational reform with passion, openness, responsibility and optimism.
